Hello, I'm Kate Carrick! I am a Spokane Valley Birth and Postpartum Doula, lactation educator, and violinist! I began my journey as a doula in 2010 receiving birth doula training through Bastyr University, completing Evergreen Perinatal lactation educator in 2011, and attending a special seminar called "When Survivors Give Birth" given by Penny Simkin! More recently I attended the childbirth mentor training with "Birthing from Within."

As a doula I strive to enhance the bond between mother, partner, and baby by providing information, suggestions for pain management/optimal descent of the baby, continuous emotional attention when it is needed, and support for the family before, during, and after birth. Normal labor may take many hours and it is essential that your partner be relieved for bathroom breaks, meals, even naps! My goal is to enhance the atmosphere of your room by providing compassion and encouragement while you labor your way!

My goal is to help "fill in the blanks" while adding positively to the  atmosphere created by mother, partner, and care team!

In the months before your arrival I can fill your lives with classical music, literature, and your very own "birth art!" In my opinion, there is no better way to prepare for a beautiful birth than to fill your life with beauty!
